Position Summary Wildlife Damage Specialist (Wildlife Biologist - Advanced): Statewide leadership, oversight, direction; and management of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wildlife damage and nuisance program. Salary Information Wildlife Damage Specialist starting salary is between $40.00 - $43.00 / hour ($83,200 - $ 89 ,440) depending on qualifications. Plus, excellent benefits. The classification is Wildlife Biologist - Advanced which is in schedule-range 15 - 03. - Education and/or professional experience in wildlife management including ecology, natural resources management or other conservation related field.
- Work experience in developing and analyzing policies and procedures, analyzing reports, interpreting results, and/or regulatory compliance.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing technical responses and communicating complex technical topics to a variety of audiences both verbally and through written materials (e.g., compliance assistance, public notice requirements...etc.).
In addition, highly qualified candidates will have experience with one or more of the following qualifications:
- Serving as team lead or leading a program (planning resource needs, assigning or delegating work, ensuring team's work is completed on time and according to performance metrics, etc.)
- Presenting internally and externally to large groups or stakeholders including the media on human wildlife conflicts (depicting complex information in visual formats, etc.)
- Experience managing or responding to human-wildlife conflicts, including but not limited to animal damage complaints, urban wildlife conflicts, animal attack response, etc.
