The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Mission Statement is to conserve North Carolina's wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters, and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation. The Commission is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of N.C. fishing, hunting, trapping, and boating laws. The NCWRC employs 700 full-time staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, customer service, information technology, and administrative professionals.

The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Law Enforcement Division employs over 200 Wildlife Officers who patrol fields, forests, and inland waters at all hours, in all 100 North Carolina counties. These officers ensure public compliance with fishing, wildlife and boating laws and regulations and enforce the conservation of wildlife resources and provide public safety through both proactive law enforcement and the instruction of quality education.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is seeking applicants for a Wildlife Law Enforcement Supervisor II (Lieutenant - District 7) for our Law Enforcement Division. The WRC Lieutenant is a leadership position with key responsibilities in the areas of law enforcement, hunter and boater education programs and public relations.

The Wildlife Law Enforcement Supervisor II (Lieutenant - District 7) supervises the operation of the enforcement program administered within assigned district. Conducts employee evaluations and administers the NCVIP within assigned district. Completes and approves employee work schedule for district. Reviews all enforcement reports for accuracy and timeliness prior to submission to Raleigh Office. Conducts administrative investigations. Monitors administration of the hunter education and boater education programs within the district. Investigates citizen complaints regarding officer's performance. And provides training as required by Training and Standards and by the policies of the NCWRC.

This is a Home-Based position. The incumbent will be required to live within District 7 (counties listed below) unless an exception is made by the Law Enforcement Division Chief. The incumbent will also be expected to use an agency-provided computer and to provide home office space compliant with WRC and State policies.

A rotating shift schedule is associated with this position which involves working Sunday to Saturday, with two days off per week (minimum of 160 work hours per 28-day period.) This position is subject to callback 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Night work and overnight travel may be required on occasion. The incumbent may be required to work some weekends and holidays. The assigned duty station for this position is NC Wildlife Resources Commission District 7 (Alleghany, Ashe, Watauga, Wilkes, Alexader, Iredell, Davie, Forsyth, Stokes, Yadkin and Surry counties).

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following:

* Knowledge of the Wildlife Resources Commission Employee Handbook and the Division of Enforcement Policy Manual.

* Knowledge of game, fish, and boat law found the NC General Statutes, NC Administrative Code, and the US Code of Federal Regulations.

* Knowledge of the NC Hunter Education program and the NC Boating Education program.

* Ability to effectively communicate information and expectations, while managing stressful situations with composure, and actively listening to understand and resolve issues.

* Ability to think strategically, balancing immediate district needs with long term goals

* Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and goals throughout the district.

Management Preferences:

* Experience as a Wildlife Law Enforcement Supervisor I ( Sergeant ) or higher with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

Special Qualifications/Requirements:

* Certification as a North Carolina Wildlife Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission.

* Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and acceptable driving record.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and eight years of NC Wildlife Law Enforcement Experience, including one year supervising NC Wildlife Law Enforcement Officers or supervising complex Wildlife Law Enforcement operations,
