Job Description:
Title: General Machinist - Hourly Location: East Alton, IL Salary: $40.58/hour Schedule: Straight midnight (S/3) Websites: Winchester.com and WhiteFlyer.com General Machinist Essential Job Functions:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and disassemble/reassemble machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Machine parts as needed.
  • Assist with process improvement and initiate change.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and manual lathes/mills.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including lockout/tagout and wearing required PPE.
General Machinist Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Two-year related degree with a minimum of two years recent related General Machinist heavy industrial/maintenace experience; OR
    • Minimum four-years recent related General Machinist heavy industrial/maintenace experience; OR
    • A four-year related General Machinist apprenticeship certification.
  • Recent related experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Manual conventional lathes/mills, boring mills, machine shop equipment, and repair work.
  • Climb ladders, enter confined spaces and lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as a forklift, tractor, crane, and backhoe.
  • Strong math and blueprint reading.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have flexibility to work other shifts, weekends, and forced overtime.
Location-Specific Requirements:
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
