Job Description:
Overview Pet Supplies Plus is looking for a an on-site Systems Administrator who will work on a hybrid basis 3-days per week to manage, troubleshoot, and optimize our systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Windows environments, networking protocols, and system administration. This role will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our systems, enabling us to provide exceptional service to our customers. Responsibilities/QualificationsSystem Administrator key responsibilities include:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows-based servers and network devices to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot system issues, ensure maximum system uptime, review and address connectivity problems, and remedy security vulnerabilities.
  • Manage Active Directory, including user and group account administration, permissions, and policies.
  • Deploy and update software using technologies such as SCCM/Intune as well as conduct remote imaging and configurations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting network-related problems and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
  • Patch and maintain servers, workstations, SANs using SCCM, Intune and 3rd party patch management systems.
  • Develop, track, revise and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of information technology and computing resources and assure and sustain the integrity and security of network infrastructure.
  • Monitor and patch software applications regularly with a schedule in place.
  • Work daily with a helpdesk system such as Manage Engine's Service Desk Plus managing requests, tasks, changes, and projects.
  • Manage and maintain regular backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in network administration, security, and technology advancements.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of network/system upgrades, migrations, and expansion projects.
  • Manage remote applications such as Remote Apps and Beyond Trust appliances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various IT initiatives and projects.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and assist in resolving IT-related inquiries.
  • Performs other duties and projects assigned by management.
Pawsome System Administrator candidates will have these key qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8-10+ years of relevant windows system administration experience required.
  • Ability to participate in a on call rotation 24x7.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022) and Active Directory management.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 including Exchange, Office 365, Intune, Entra, and Microsoft Security stack
  • Experience with VMWare / Nutanix / Ubuntu / Azure
  • Experience with networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and LAN/WAN configurations.
  • Experience with network security concepts, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards network maintenance and optimization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
  • Experience with implementing monitoring software such as PRTG or Solarwinds.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of patching servers and workstations; and reviewing vulnerabilities using tools such as Nessus or Qualys.
