Position Purpose: To maintain and promote the safety of participants, provide first-aid assistance and transporting injured participants.Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Intermediate level skier or higher
- NSPS member in good standing preferred, but not required
- Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Technician training provided
- Current Outdoor Emergency Transportation (OET) qualification
- Alpine or Nordic patrollers may apply
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification preferred, but not required
- Complete annual OEC, OET and CPR refreshers as required
- Lift Evacuation Training will be provided
- Good communication skills; both written and verbal, including radio communications
- Professional appearance: ski helmet must be worn, wear standard red patrol jacket/vest with white cross and black pants
- Team focused; friendly and adaptable
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be punctual, reliable, able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Responsibilities:
- Lift safety checks: report any problems identified
- Check slopes for hazards and mark as appropriate
- Setup and breakdown additional netting required each operational day
- Monitor trail conditions
- Respond to possible accidents
- Provide emergency medical care
- Transport patients; including from most difficult terrain
- Handle incidents through transfer to EMS
- Keep records and assist in accident investigation
- Inspect and maintain ski patrol equipment and supplies
- Perform chairlift evacuations if necessary
- Safely perform all job duties and responsibilities
- Work together with other staff/departments as needed
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
- Must be capable of balancing, climbing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stopping, crawling, using equipment controls and push, lift or pull up to 75 lbs.
- Will be required to climb stairs, walk up and down inclines and uneven terrain.
- Ability to work effectively in extreme cold weather conditions and in other inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs. of material routinely unassisted and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
