The Division of University Relations is responsible for oversight of the Office of Government Relations, Office of Economic & Employer Engagement (OEEE), the Office for Business & Entrepreneurship (OBE), and the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy & Service (WIPPS).
POSITION SUMMARY: Get in on the ground floor as Wisconsin deploys its Biohealth Tech Hub strategy. The Biohealth Tech Hub is a prestigious designation awarded to Wisconsin to establish global leadership in medical imaging diagnostics and therapeutics. The WI Tech Hub has a 5-year funded effort to launch and scale novel technology and workforce strategies establishing Wisconsin as a go-to destination to invent, build, and deploy personalized healthcare solutions. The Tech Hub is looking for a sales-oriented, Employer Engagement Manager that exhibits a strong problem-solution, entrepreneurial, and partnering mind-set. The Employer Engagement Manager is responsible for leading the hub's employer mapping and outreach efforts, working with partners to define and design technical assistance solutions promoting the hub's no-wrong door, workforce strategy. With partners, this position will be instrumental in creating, scaling, adapting, and marketing new and current workforce training programs and braided funding support, all with an emphasis on inclusivity and work-based learning, including apprenticeships. This position is a key contributor in the Tech Hub Workforce Project Team and reports to the Director for Economic and Employer Engagement in the Division of University Relations at the Universities of Wisconsin. The Employer Engagement Manager is based out of Milwaukee, WI and requires regional travel throughout the Madison and Milwaukee metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include the following key activities:
* Develop an outreach and engagement strategy resulting in a dynamic map of Biohealth employers, employer incentives, and employment opportunities including healthcare, biotech, and biomanufacturers across the designated MSA.
* Develop employer-focused strategies and tools that catalog, calendar, and curate existing work-based learning programs and support resources along with processes that increase the usage and consistency of offerings.
* With partners, create technical assistance tools, outreach schedules, and marketing materials (including digital/online) promoting learning and employment opportunities for in-demand career pathways.
* Work with hub partners identifying eligible employer partners for work-based learning programming and braided services helping the workforce project deliver on its training, placement, and upskilling metrics as defined by the project partners.
* With employers, partners, and UW resources, develop new, sustainable experiential programs serving up to 165 participants in partnership with the Milwaukee Tech Hub, the Institute for Business and Entrepreneurship, WRTP/Big Step, and UW Extended Campus including networks of continuing education leaders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, a candidate must have:
* Bachelor's degree.
* At least 3 years' experience in human resources, recruiting, workforce solutions, and/or career services.
* Demonstrated experience researching, cold-calling, and identifying businesses needs with intent to provide solutions-oriented services and products.
* Experience managing metric-driven outreach strategies.
* Record of developing, managing, and maintaining trusted communication and results-driven strategies across diverse stakeholders.
* Previous experience reporting through a customer relationship management (CRM) tool such as Zoho, Salesforce, or similar.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Well qualified applicants will also have a substantial amount of experience in a combination of the following:
* At least 2 years of sales or customer engagement experience with metric-driven results.
* Successful experience managing teams towards metric-driven outreach and program strategies.
* Preferred HR and/or sales experience in medical/ bio/pharma manufacturing, biohealth, or biotech.
* Master's degree in STEM, business, HR, public policy, organizational leadership or similar.
* Experience working across Wisconsin entrepreneurial and/or small business ecosystems.

WORK LOCATION
Telecommuting or hybrid work options may be available, with a minimum in-office expectation of 3 days a week. Preference will be given to candidates that reside within the state of Wisconsin. The office will be located at a UW-Milwaukee site with a requirement of regional travel throughout the Madison and Milwaukee areas. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a full-time, salaried (exempt) limited appointment. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within the range of $90,000 - $115,000 annually commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.
