Discover what it's like to be a part of the Fairbanks Morse Defense team here: PurposeThis position is responsible to accurately and efficiently inspect all Products, components and assemblies, incoming, in-process and out-going at Ward Leonard to ensure they meet Customer and military requirements. Essential FunctionsAs applicable, or as assigned by Department manager, inspects all materials and parts visually, mechanically, electrically, as needed, and checks dimensions to insure they meet drawing requirements and specifications.Visually: Checks for correct ID markings, broken or missing parts, damage. Reviews Documentation (RI's or WO's) for accuracy.Mechanically: Checks to make sure all parts meet engineer drawing requirements.Dimensions: Checks accuracy of machined dimensions with all types of mechanical measuring tools and gauges. Computer: Use of Microsoft word, with familiarity of ERP systems
- Performs Receiving, In-process, using a variety of measurement devices including hand measurement tools, comparator.
- Ability to support 2nd shift needs if required
- Reviews Supplier documentation and/or Internal WO's - i.e. Certificate of Conformance and/or Test Data.
- Verifies certificates of compliance meet the requirements of the drawing and the purchase order.
- Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
- Interacts with others to ensure timely Calibration of gauges.
- Verifies calibrations of gages prior to use.
- Initiates Nonconforming Material Reports (NCM) as necessary and ensures proper segregation practices and material movement.
- Is knowledgeable of ISO 9001.
- Ability to perform product audits.
- Participate in Customer site visits as required.
- Participates in Customer or other third party audits of Ward Leonard.
- Ability to use common office equipment such as copiers, faxes, scanners etc.
- Performs office tasks such as scanning and filing
- Adheres to housekeeping standards in all work areas which includes sweeping area.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Quality Manager / Lead CMM Programmer I.
Accountability
- Reports to Quality Manager / Lead CMM Programmer I.
- Ensures that all work is done in accurately and in accordance with Customer specifications and Company Policy.
- Ensures that all work is done in efficiently and timely.
- Ability to utilize time effectively so the maximum quantity of work is performed daily.
- Keeps Quality Manager / Lead aware of all progress and problems.
Environmental / Safety / Time Allocation/ Physical Requirements
- Job requires standing and walking in a manufacturing facility and use of PPE.
- Job requires use of a crane to lift heavy objects
- Job requires efficient use of a computer.
Education / Experience
- High School / Trade School - with 0 to 2 years of QC experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
- Basic Understanding of GDT to mechanical layout inspection.
- ISO experience, familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) a plus.
