The woodshop provides an employmentopportunity and job training platform for young adults in our Workforce program.The WoodworkingProduction Specialist will not be responsible for oversight of the program or young adults, but will be workingalongside the young adults. The woodworking specialist may occasionally provide coaching at the direction of the Director or the Program Manager. The Woodworking Specialist's primary responsibility is to meet production goals. They will work collaboratively with supervisors, the Program Manager and other part time woodworking staff to review priorities and work to achieve production goals.The Woodworking Production Specialist will report to the Director of Woodworking, and the Senior Director of Social Enterprises. This position is based in Lowell, MA.Duties/ResponsibilitiesMeet individual weekly and monthly production goals, as directed by production schedule • Comply with safety and shop operating proceduresServe as a role model to young adults by actively adhering to safety requirements, operationalprocedures, and work ethicMaintain clean, safe, and organized workspaceAssist with training on safety and production procedures as neededMaintain inventory of supplies and submit requests for supplies to program manager • Track and maintain inventory of core product (boards, merchandising blocks , etc.)QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalency preferred, but not required2+ years experience working in a woodshop or similar production environmentOpen to feedback and professional development; consistent desire to learnComfortable working in a diverse environmentAbility to lead by example, and comfortable with directing/coaching individualsAttention to detail and organizational skillsCapable of lifting 50lbsSalary/Benefits: The starting pay for this role is $21-$23 per hour, plus benefits. UTEC offers a competitive benefits package that starts with 4 weeks of vacation (3 standard for all new employees and a week of agency-wide wellness closure between the Christmas and New Year holidays), 12 holidays, 10 sick days, 2 personal days, and health, dental and vision insurance.
