Full Time Position works 40 hours per week, includes excellent benefit package, PERS/OPSRP retirement and availability of deferred compensation retirement savings program.

Onsite (Courthouse complex) childcare available at a discounted employee rate through Roseburg Professional Childcare (Fowler St. location only). Availability is subject to center waitlist.

Job Summary:

This position provides supervision of up to 15 adult offenders performing work crew labor as ordered by the court or parole officer; maintains order and discipline within the group; completes required recordkeeping and develops work projects with public and non-profit agencies.

Essential Functions:

This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.

* Reviews work sites.

* Transports and supervises up to 15 adult offenders.

* Maintains order and discipline within the group.

* Prepares work crew truck, tools and supplies for the day.

* Prepares daily reports using PC programs.

* Provides supervision to adult offenders as necessary.

* Transports and supervises up to 15 adult offenders in various jobs including but not limited to working at the landfill and various county properties.

* Operates vans, buses and trailers.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. However, the following is preferred:

* Two years experience in forestry, landscaping, wildland fire fighter (FF1) or carpentry which includes supervision of personnel.

Required:

* At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon drivers license.

* Regular and consistent attendance

Physical Demands: Work is performed both in an office environment and in the field which involves everyday risks and discomforts and sometime adverse weather conditions requiring safety precautions. Physical demands may require bending, gripping with hands and fingers, hearing alarms and voice conversation, keyboarding, lifting up to 35 pounds, pulling, pushing, sitting, standing, stooping, twisting and walking rough terrain and possibly apprehending and restraining hostile people. A substantial amount of daily driving is involved.

Driving Requirements: Position requires driving. Finalist will be required to provide a driving history that meets the Douglas County Driver Policy as part of contingent offer of employment. While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background check as part of a contingent offer of employment. Conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from employment.

Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Presence of non-prescribed drugs, including marijuana, on drug screen results will result in disqualification pursuant to the County's drug and alcohol policy. To determine if physically qualified to perform essential functions, employment offer is conditional upon satisfactory results of a post-offer medical and hearing exam conducted at county expense.
