Once hired, employees will need to present proof of eligibility to work legally in the United States.JOB DESCRIPTION:Under direction of the Director of Career and Technical Education and the Assistant Superintendent of High Schools and Career and Technical Education, the primary responsibility of the Work-Based Learning Facilitator is to facilitate and oversee the planning of the Pathways for the STEAM School Programs. The Facilitator will be the liaison between the parents, students, school, and community businesses to achieve an effective academic and career program that includes a school-to-work transition as part of the integrated six-year program. The Work-Based Learning Facilitator will facilitate the development of partnerships and programming that will allow students to graduate from high school with Regents Diploma and a Technical Endorsement. The Work-Based Learning Facilitator will work collaboratively with Office of Teaching and Learning building administrators to support the District's goals to increase student achievement and graduation rates.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Work-Based Learning Facilitator will assist the Principal of the STEAM High School, as well as the Director of Career and Technical Education in the following areas:
  • Plan, implement and market the WBL programs as defined above.
  • Serve as a liaison between parents, students, the school district, university partners and community businesses.
  • Facilitate business, education, and community partnerships that provide opportunities for students and support CTE programs.
  • Coordinate and chaperone student field trips to colleges, college related events, and work/career- related opportunities to recruit students.
  • Attend relevant workshops and meetings.
  • Develop a recruitment and selection process for students interested in attending the STEAM High School and other CTE Programs.
  • Coordinate, schedule, announce, and host all college, career, community and military rep visits.
  • Maintain a visible calendar for students and families to access both hard copy and on Naviance.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary forms on file, including student records according to SCSD and NYSDOE regulations.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education and district administration.
  • Register the program with the State Education Department.
  • Seek and provide information regarding local internship and WBL opportunities.
  • Develop a process to supervise and evaluate students' academic and technical performance.
WORK KNOWLEDGE:
  • Working knowledge of state and federal child labor laws and worker permit regulations.
  • Analytical skills to interpret student assessment results, behavior, and work capabilities.
  • Organizational skills to independently manage a caseload.
  • Communication skills needed to effectively relate to students, parents, teachers, administrators, and business owners.
  • Technological skills, ability to use all Microsoft Office products.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills to determine appropriate job settings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Master's Degree in related field preferred
  • New York State teaching Certification in Business, Technology, CTE or related field Work-Based Learning certification preferred
  • Experience in teaching at the secondary level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with teachers, building administrators and district level administrators in developing and implementing a scientific-based approach to school/District wide reform.
  • Knowledge of the policies, organization and operation of the school system, NYSED regulations and work-based learning requirements.
  • Strong management, interpersonal, and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community.
  • Ability to establish priorities and multitask.
  • Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)
  • Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for hire.
  • Please note that New York State requires a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 for certification, and one hired, this proof will be kept on file in the Office of Human Resources.
  • Once offered, you will be required to declare that all previous obligations with an employing school district have been met and you are not seeking this position with the intent of resigning from a previous commitment in which you have not served.
SALARY/SALARY RANGE:
  • The 2024-2025 starting salary for SCSD Teachers is $53,000. With proof of outside related experience and college transcripts, the salary will be increased pursuant to the Unit 1 contractual agreement.
