TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR FLSA STATUS

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Workforce Development, the Workforce Navigator is responsible for assisting individuals in achieving their career goals through personalized career counseling, job placement services, and access to training opportunities. This role involves working closely with job seekers, employers, and community organizations to create a bridge between skilled workers and available job opportunities. The Workforce Navigator will assist clients with reducing or eliminating barriers to gainful and stable employment.

* Actively recruit and retain program participants.

* Provide individualized career guidance, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.

* Assist clients in securing employment by identifying job opportunities and matching them with suitable positions.

* Stay informed about local and national labor market trends to offer relevant advice to clients.

* Build and maintain relationships with employers, training providers, and community organizations to facilitate job placements and career development opportunities.

* Conduct skills assessments to identify clients' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for development.

* Connect clients with appropriate training programs and resources to enhance their skills and employability.

* Develop and conduct workshops and seminars on various topics such as job search techniques, career planning, and professional development.

* Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes using IMPOWR, or any other designated software and/or databases.

* Advocate for clients' needs and interests with employers and training providers to support their career development.

* Identify and utilize community resources and services to assist clients in overcoming employment barriers.

* Prepare and submit regular reports on client progress, program outcomes, and other relevant metrics to management.

* Ensure all activities comply with organizational policies and relevant legislation.

* Occasional travel to community organizations, job fairs, and employer sites. Must be accessible, some evenings and weekends required.

* Provide information and referrals to clients/community members.

* Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Authority:

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and understanding of management systems and interpersonal relations.

Skills and Abilities:

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in career counseling, workforce development, or a related field.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong ability to build rapport with clients, employers, and community partners.

Ability to analyze labor market data and trends to inform career counseling practices.

Proficiency in managing multiple tasks, clients, and deadlines.

Dedication to providing high-quality support and guidance to clients.

Strong problem-solving skills to address and overcome clients' employment barriers.

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds and client needs.

Flexibility to adapt to changing job market conditions and client requirements.

High level of integrity and commitment to serve our client upholding professional standards.

Ability to speak and write English & Spanish fluently.

Valid NYS license and access to own transportation.

A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 30 lbs. And frequent sitting.
