Job DetailsJob LocationGLCAC - Lawrence, MADescriptionJob Summary: Under the Workforce, Adult Learning, and Financial Empowerment programs, the Workforce Community Coordinator assists students and clients in the attainment of securing employment and in their professional and personal development. Provides case management resources to assist in overcoming challenges and barriers to meet educational goals and obtain employment. Through personal consultations, classes and group training, the incumbent assists students and clients to identify their job skill aptitudes to attain employment and maximize their career goals. This includes providing internships and substituting as needed for Instructors in ESOL language classes with the objective of increasing job opportunities to attain financial stability. The Workforce Coordinator is an experienced, well-organized professional with prior ESOL and Adult Education Instructor experience to include both in-person and online teaching acumen.Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in identifying their professional goals, to assist in providing internships, job placement and retention of new employment. This includes all levels of positions
- Provides case management resources to assist in overcoming challenges and barriers to meet educational goals and obtain employment
- Tracks student and client job placements at 60, 90 and 180 days to identify retention, trends and to work with students to ensure career success
- Provide GLCAC clients with discovering new employment prospects by identifying both internal and external referrals
- Holds seminars and workshops to educate individuals in their search for new employment opportunities/career path and refers for financial education
- Guides GLCAC students and clients on advising to make a career change, and performs skills assessments for clients
- Support students/job seekers in their job searches, job applications, also developing resumes and cover letters. Prepares job interview tactics with students/job seekers by advising, and connecting to prospective employers
- Responsible for maintaining a tracking system and performing data entry for various programs in collaboration with the Coordinators and the Program Assistants including providing reports on job placements to determine the effective of the Workforce program
- Provide ongoing support to the ESOL registration and assessment administration. Work effectively and equitably as part of an advising performance team as well as with program staff and teachers
- Collaborate closely with students and job seekers to explore various career opportunities furthermore, maintain regular communication with our partners and job seekers to assist them in achieving their financial stability goals and overcoming any challenges they encounter
- Work in collaboration with the Financial Education Coordinator to offer customized financial coaching sessions for individuals who have secured job placements
- Complete additional tasks assigned by the Department Director.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience performing comparable duties in workforce recruitment/development, or case management
- Commitment to assist GLCAC clients and students to attain their employment and financial goals to achieve financial stability and provide opportunities for growth
- Prior ESOL Instructor experience to substitute as required in the classroom or online
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a requirement
- Proficient in the use of computers, maintaining databases, and knowledge of designed spreadsheets
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills are important
- Must have excellent management and motivational skills. The ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up GLCAC's clientele, to support the agency's mission of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization for employees and clients alike.
