Scope of Responsibilities: The Workforce Development Coordinator will perform and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Workforce Development Department as directed by the Director of Workforce Development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities In addition to adhering to the general guidelines as specified by the Faculty/Staff Handbook, the Director of Workforce Development, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, Dean of Students, the President, and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, responsibilities will include the following:
- Assists with writing, developing and submitting grant applications for the WFD Department.
- Provides support for grant writing projects to include but not limited to gathering data and collecting research documents to support grant proposals.
- Reconciles departmental budgets and grants monthly utilizing Excel and Banner and other relevant software with WFD Director.
- Maintains a running calculation of each grant expenditure including salaries and purchase orders and produce relevant reports pertaining to the data.
- Completes budget amendments for grants(s) as needed.
- Assists with input of non-credit classes through Elevate system.
- Assists with Manufacturing Skills MSSC registrations and assessments.
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing office communications including telephone, email, take and relay messages, respond as needed to office callers and walk-ins in a professional manner.
- Maintains office electronic and cloud based filing systems, maintaining hard copy filing system (SharePoint).
- Completes travel requests, purchase order, and check requests, as needed.
- Assists with creating and developing newsletters and brochures for the entire Office of Workforce Development projects, classes, and events.
- Maintains businesses and industries training schedules and coordinate calendar events.
- Monitors and manages online business and industry training through the WCCS online platform (CANVAS).
- Coordinates training courses with local business and industries offered through the Innovation Center for Skills for Success participants.
- Serves on college committees as assigned.
- Works well with others and show respect to all college constituents.
- Perform any assigned duties as directed by the Director of Workforce Development, Associate Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, Dean of Business and Finance, Dean of Students, and the President of the College and his/her designee
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Strong computer, data processing, and records management skills.
- Effective in both written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Associate Degree in Office Administration or related field preferred.
- Two years' experience working with the Alabama Community College System.
- An understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the two-year college.
- Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
