Locations: Albany Clubhouse

Salary: 18.00 per hour

Hours & Schedule: 3-8pm Monday-Friday (Weekend Availability Required)

Overview of Your Role

The primary function of the Workforce Development Coordinator will be coordinating the workforce development programs for youth, young adults, adults, and dislocated workers, including the summer youth employment programs. This program provides educational, vocational, and employment support, preparation, and training for youth and young adults 14 to 24 years of age. In collaboration with local agencies, education institutions and private employers, an incumbent in this class will develop a comprehensive youth education, employment, and training program. While also providing oversight, budget monitoring, program monitoring, and implementation to ensure supportive services, eligibility within funding guidelines, and assistance with educational plans and job placements.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Grant oversight, budget monitoring, program monitoring, and implementation to ensure supportive services, eligibility within funding guidelines, assistance with educational plans, and job placements are delivered.
  • Maintains overall responsibility for the development of a comprehensive youth education, employment, and training program in collaboration with local agencies, educational institutions, and private employers.
  • Assists individuals served by the Workforce Development program with establishing and working on individualized program goals such as increased self-sufficiency, education attainment, securing employment, etc.
  • Assess program needs, authorize, and facilitate supportive services to assist in removing barriers that may prevent successful completion of the program.
  • Provides direct supervision and training for staff.
  • Acts as liaison with local educators, private industry, and local, regional, state, and federal agency representatives involved in career development, education, and training
  • Consults and coordinates with other systems/service providers (school, agencies) to maximize service effectiveness.
  • Attends regular meetings and job fairs with local businesses and agencies to assess labor trends, local vacancies, and staff development opportunities.
  • Performs mentoring (weekly) and intensive mentoring (daily) and support groups to offer role modeling, social and emotional support, and encouragement during periods of youth development and subsequent life changes.
  • Participates in the implementation and delivery of participant outreach and recruitment plans.
  • Manages facilities and ensures a productive work environment, maintaining an inventory of all program equipment and supplies in good order. Recommends requisitions, as necessary, controlling expenditures against monthly supply budget.
  • Implements BGCA Career Launch curriculum
  • Enters data into various reporting systems as required by grant deliverables and MyClubHub.
  • Completes report as assigned by Direct Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

Requirements:

CREDENTIALS, SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an educator, counselor, caseworker, employment interviewer, or similar title in a community action, social service, education, or similar agency dealing with employment, education, or training
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required; experience with group facilitation a plus
  • Must have experience working with at-risk, underserved populations,
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of continuing education options, including high school, trade, and college
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including periodic evenings and weekends

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Will work with their staff to assure that all goals are completed
  • Will work with volunteers to meet the needs of the program

Physical Requirements: This job may require extended periods of standing, walking, and engaging in physical activities with children. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds may also be necessary.
