The Instructor will assist adults to become literate in the English language. The incumbent will serve as a student resource, mentor and advisor to students while also assessing student progress toward course completion.?This position assists students with the registration process and the selection of an appropriate class placement, career pathways, and/or post-secondary education. This position also maintains confidential student records and case files by providing advice and guidance to students on resources that are available to assist with their transition to the workforce or post-secondary education/training.Classification: Workforce & Professional Education InstructorInstructional Duration: Semester BasedRate: $575/CEU (Continuing Education Units)*Pay per class is dependent on the number of assigned Continuing Education Units (1 CEU is equivalent to 10 hours of work) What You Will Do 1. Researches, develops and customizes course curriculum.2. Provides course instruction at various times and locations, including online, evening and weekend offerings; develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course and follows established institutional guidelines, grant objectives and program requirements.?3. Prepare lessons and utilize teaching materials for the purpose of developing the students' ability to acquire skills necessary for daily living and employment in accordance to the program curriculum.4. Serves as a student resource, mentor and advisor to students in program matters while also assessing student progress toward the course completion and/or eligibility for certification.5. Maintains all student records of attendance and performance within the classroom; provides timely, quality driven responses to students through electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.6. Under the guidance of the designated management, assists with implementing and maintaining on file a plan for evaluating the effectiveness of the course and/or program.7. Remains current in subject matter area and adapts to evolving computer technology as required of the position.8. Participate in meetings and events in order to align instruction, monitor progress, identify issues, and build curriculum; network and collaborate with staff, administration, and advisor/case manager to improve effectiveness and increase the success of student transition.9. Collects, synthesizes and analyzes data to assist in ensuring the efficacy of the program.10. Completes any required annual training to remain in compliance with College policy and/or program requirements.11. Related duties, initiatives and projects as assigned. The Successful Candidate Must Have 1. Bachelor's degree.2. New Jersey Teacher's Certification or 2-3 years of teaching experience.3. At two years of proven experience preparing written communications, presentation and delivering and facilitating meetings, training sessions and/or teaching classes or seminars.4. Experience preparing workshops and giving presentations to adult learners in-person and virtually.5. One or more years of experience advising students for adult education, ESL, and literacy.6. One or more years of prior client service experience in a role requiring interpersonal skills, interaction with a diverse population and the establishment of working/servicing relationships.7. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software programs as required of the position. Even Better If You Have 1. Master's degree.2. Bilingual in Spanish.3. Knowledge and experience standardized assessment instruments and effective teaching methods for adult education.4. One year of experience teaching working with adults in various educational environments.5. Experience with the following systems: Elevate, Colleague, Canvas.
