Job Description PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide radiological services to patients as a diagnostic modality. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES: General Radiology (X-RAY/DEXA) SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares room and materials required for the procedure requested.
- Cleans and disinfects room and equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
- Identifies patient using two patient identifiers (name and date of birth)
- Follows departmental procedures with regards to imaging and developing images. Ensuring images are sent to PACS.
- Monitors patient and equipment during procedure and reports any unusual occurrences
- Notifies medical personnel of any patient changes requiring medical attention.
- Maintains stock supplies and assist administrators in determining quantities required
- Maintain patient confidentiality as required by HIPAA
- Performs QA and daily tests for the processor and equipment. Keeps logs as required.
- Coordinates and provides operating supervision to Radiographers.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff.
- Perform full range of routine high-quality radiographic images including general radiology.
- Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements;
- Be responsive to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.
- Prepares and positions patient for procedures as indicated.
- Understands and uses correct exposure factors, in order to produce high quality images. Determine if the image quality was sufficient prior to the patient leaving, repeat images if needed.
- Consult with radiologist at Woodhull for any issues/concerns with images or results.
- Completes all documentation as required.
- Maintains stock supplies, develop par stock level and makes request for purchase.
- Ensures proper maintenance of all equipment and supplies and notify administration of any malfunctions.
- Comply with infection prevention and control policies, i.c., handwashing.
- Maintains appropriate attire in accordance with the Dress Code Policy.
- Participates in Quality improvement projects as indicated.
- Prepares reports on metrics as needed.
- Acts as the resource person for the medical team.
- Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
- Comply with NYC H+H time and attendance policies and procedures.
- Participates in outreach events, meetings a Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications 1. For Supervisory Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. 2. For Specialized Imaging Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced level certification for the performance of these procedures.
