TITLE: X-Ray Technologist
LOCATION: St. Paul, MN (Onsite)
SCHEDULE: Full-time
SUMMARY: The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging exams in compliance with departmental procedures and guidelines. The X-Ray Technologist works with patients of all ages, cultures, and physical conditions and provides efficient and effective customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient's condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.

SKILLS:
- Demonstrated skill in the area of interpersonal communication as it relates to patients, families, co-workers, medical staff, and others.
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience with pediatric and/or disabled populations.
- Flexibility and versatility in working with a variety of staff in a variety of areas.
- Proficient and safe use of imaging equipment including: Radiographic, C-arm, O-arm, Portable radiographic, and Fluoroscopic.
- Proficient and safe use of ancillary equipment relevant to the modality including: Computed radiography, Positioning devices, Ceiling lift, PACS, RIS, Other hospital information systems, Document scanner, Fax/copy/printer, and CD burner.
- Proficient in all exam types for the assigned modality.
- Radiographic: Skull, Spine, Chest, Abdomen, Pelvis, Upper and Lower Extremity, Intraoperative, Fluoroscopic, C-arm, and O-arm
- Performs and documents that the correct patient receives the correct exam on the correct site.
- Evaluates the order, prepares the imaging room, and identifies the patient using a minimum of 2 forms of ID.
- Performs patient assessment of pain, pregnancy, ability to complete the exam.
- Performs patient education concerning the procedure, documents patient history, and properly positions the patient.
- Selects the exam protocol and the equipment parameters/technical factors.
- Accurately displays, transfers and archives images, documents the procedure in RIS and for interpretation.
- Discharges the patient with post procedure instructions.
- Evaluates resulting images, image quality (motion, artifacts, noise, anatomy), and accepts or rejects images appropriately.
- Optimal demonstration of anatomic region.
- Performs and documents equipment quality control.
- Safety: Performs duties according to hospital and department policies and practices.
- Practices radiation safety and incorporate ALARA, Image Gently and Image Wisely principles in all aspects of image acquisition.
- Demonstrates full knowledge of facility and departmental emergency and safety procedures; current in facility safety requirements (Emergency codes/alerts, activation of RRT and Code 2).
- Practices safety-related work processes to ensure a safe work environment: hand hygiene, standard precautions, infection control, safe lifting, utilization of lifts, etc.
- Reporting: Utilizes the various safety and quality reporting processes.
- Function independently within established guidelines.
EDUCATION:
- Completion of a JRCERT-accredited program of Radiologic Technology or ARRT-approved equivalent. – Required
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or have passed the ARRT Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology exam (and must obtain ARRT Registry within six months of hire). – Required
- Current CPR Certification – Required
