Job Description:
The Yard Rigger assists the crane operator in the movement of panels, hardware, production beds or, other materials and equipment in the day-to-day production process. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for signaling the crane operator during panel lifting and placement. • Uses rigging devices for the transportation, storage, and shipping of precast panels. • Hooks and unhooks lifting cables, ring clutches, and spreader bars. • Guides crane and is to always remain in constant communication via two-way radio with the crane operator as they guide the crane around blind spots. • Place dunnage used to store panels in racks or trailers for shipping to customers. EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. • Have the ability to work as a part of a team and have effective communication skills. • Must always remain alert to your surroundings. • Maintains good housekeeping and always follows the safety policies and procedures. • Ability to climb ladders, man-lifts and scaffolding and work from heights. • Other duties may be assigned as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, twist, and walk, must be able to use various hand tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Constant and continual standing and walking to and from all parts of 60-acre worksite. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Constant and continual medium to heavy manual, physical labor is required for this position. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as laced up ankle steel toe laced up ankle work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection WORKING CONDITIONS: This is an indoor/outdoor work environment: Exposure to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, and dust.
