About the Job The Child Watch Attendant supervises children in the YMCA Child Watch Program. This position is responsible for providing safe and enjoyable childcare for members and their children. Child Watch Attendants are required to know and follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures. Must attend staff meetings and training programs, as required. Maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times. Must be responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintain a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants. They plan and supervise the activities of children and maintain clean and safe areas. Qualifications and Skills: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be physically active to play games and sports with the children. Must be able to pick-up at least 35 pounds. Must have visual acuity to observe all children. Must have the critical skill of being able to relate to parents, school staff and children and have a positive, creative attitude. Must be able to work as a team member. Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents. Must understand and be committed to working with diverse population and to YMCA character development. What We Need From You: Current CPR and First Aid Certification. Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test. Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting.
