The main task of the Yogurt Maker is to pasteurize yogurt and add culture along with other ingredients by recipe to ferment tanks. Additional tasks include, but not be limited to: CIP, milk separation, standardizing milk with powders and cream, running milk UF, communication with packaging, some manual cleaning, and grading yogurt.
- Changeover pasteurizer from CIP to product mode. Perform hot water sanitation of pasteurizer.
- Sanitize lines and vats as needed for production run. Some manual cleaning of outside of vats, floors, walls, etc.
- Perform pasteurizer checks - cut in, cut out, indicating temp.
- Startup and monitor pasteurizer during production.
- Add raw ingredients - powders, pectin, skim milk, UF milk, and cream to mix according to recipe.
- Set vats with starter culture along with other ingredients per recipe.
- The yogurt maker must be very careful to strictly follow GMP's to ensure that the yogurt is not contaminated while they precisely weigh and add ingredients to the ferment tanks.
- Accurate recording on make/production sheets of weights along with ingredient lot numbers.
- Operation of both raw and pasteurized CIP thru out the day. Operation and CIP of milk separator and milk UF.
- Test silos for fat and total solids prior to production runs.
- Grade yogurt to ensure consistency thru-out the year.
- Assist with transfer of yogurt to packaging lines. Need good communication with packaging dept to ensure pack machines are washed and sanitized when needed. Perform finished product tests - pH and viscosity.
- Other related additional duties as assigned
Shift: 3rd shift, 5:00pm-2:00am or done, Monday-Friday plus occasional Saturday'sPay Rate: $19.00 per hour, with an additional $3.00 3rd shift premium. Will pay more for experienced workers!QualificationsRequirements:
- Yogurt/food industry experience is preferred but not required.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- A good attendance record is required.
- Candidate must be a team player.
- Employees are required to stand the duration of the shift, with frequent and repetitive bending, stooping, turning, reaching, grasping and lifting up to 50 pounds.
