Announcement #2024-312Issue Date:10-09-24Closing Date:10-23-24Youth Case CoordinatorYouth Court ServicesDepartment of Justice ServicesHourly Wage: $19.14/Regular/Full-TimeThe Youth Case Coordinator (YCC) performs standard level professional work assessing, counseling, case management, monitoring and supervision, formally or informally, to youth that are delinquent, at-risk and that are referred truant. The YCC will engage in assessing and interpreting a client's risk factors, identify strengths, developing an individual program plan, supervise and monitor compliance. The YCC will offer culturally based services, integrating customs and traditions as a component of services planning; and other duties as assigned.As an integral position under the Revised Yakama Code (R.Y.C.) under Title 80, the Y.C.C. acts as a resource for the youth by recommending and coordinating services that are available for both youth and their families. The Y.C.C. is tasked with making unbiased recommendations to the Juvenile Presenting Officer based on the child's individual case and circumstances.Before recommending that a delinquency petition be filed, the YCC is required by the RYC to try and successfully work out a diversion plan with the youth. Before recommending that a youth-at-risk petition be filed, the YCC is required by the code to try to work out a voluntary services plan with the child. The YCC is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of each youth's case and extra-judicial circumstances in order to make the best recommendation to the juvenile presenting officerKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the Revised Yakama Code (RYC) and experience and/or understanding of the court and juvenile court system.Knowledge of Yakama cultures, traditions and beliefs when appropriate.Ability to encourage and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identify, fosters commitment and team spirit, and works with others to achieve goals.Ability to display a high standard of ethical conduct, understands the impact of violating these standards on an organization, of self, and others, chooses an ethical course of action, and is trustworthy.Ability to work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve any problems.Ability to identify problems, determines accuracy and relevant information, and uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternative and to make recommendations.Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation, concern, and politeness to others and relate well to different people from varied backgrounds and different situations.Ability to organize work, sets priorities, determine resource requirements, determine short or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them, coordinates with other organizations or parts of an organization, monitors progress, and evaluates outcomes.Ability to learn from written material by determining the main idea of essential message; communicate thoughts, ideas, information/messages and recognizes correct English grammar, punctuation and spelling.Ability to interpret, and respond to verbal messages and other cues such as body language in ways that are appropriate to listeners and situations.Ability to use machines, tools, instruments, and/or equipment effectively and use computer applications to analyze, situations, and uses appropriate body language.Ability to recall information that has been presented previously.Ability to discover or select rules, principles, or relationships between facts and other information.Ability to set will-defined and realistic personal goals, monitors progress and is motivated to achieve their goals, manage their own time, and deal with stress effectively.Ability to be sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce.Must have a strong interest in working with young people and work with all types of children; must be able to work positively and effectively with severely maladjusted children; ability and willingness to learn the deviant forms of behavior in juveniles and handle such behavior as constructively as possible.Minimum Requirements:Associates of Arts in Criminal Justice, Social Science or related field.Eligible for Tribal Probation Academy to be certified, contingent to approval and budget constraints.Required to pass pre-employment drug test.Required to pass pre-employment background check.Must not have any felony convictions.Must not have any misdemeanor convictions one year prior to hire.Must maintain good attendance and upon request provide a statement from previous employer(s).Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.Must be at least 21 years of age and of good moral character.Must maintain and uphold professional and ethical standards, which includes, but not limited to, confidentiality.Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
