DescriptionTASKS OF THE POSITION Plans and organizes work to meet all job requirements, according to Vista Maria and COA standards, licensing, and funding requirements. Provides physical care, support, guidance, and supervision in daily activities consistent with individualizedtreatment plans. Implements aspects of the treatment plan through youth interaction, role modeling and development and participates in activities with youth. Assists youth with activities of daily living; attends to adaptive behaviors and provides assistance throughcollaboration and crisis intervention, as needed. Works with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in leading activities such as current events, group community meetings, groups, recreational activities as appropriate to the specified population. Maintains confidentiality. Transports youth to and from appointments, home visits, and outings as needed. Attends and participates in group sessions, in-service training, and all staff meetings. Maintains established policies and procedures, programming, and safety and environmental and infection control standards. Collaboration with youth, families, and external agencies. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in training, in service meetings and workshops. Contributes to the team daily and lives the agency mission, vision, and core values. Completes all other related tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor and or clinical unit manager. Demonstrates diversity, equity, and inclusion responsiveness, personal integrity, and professional demeanor in accordance with Vista Maria ethics and the ethics of the program. Adheres to the mandatory stay-over schedule.School Duties (Dayshift Only) Assists youth with preparing for school, to ensure they are on time consistently. Monitors classroom/hallway in a respectful, informative, communicative, and hopeful manner. Assists in transporting youth to the clinic, cafeteria etc. Works in collaboration with teachers/co-workers in a professional manner. Always notifies school management of whereabouts.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Knowledge of adverse childhood experiences and how it affects the body and the brain. Demonstration of emotional regulation skills. Demonstrates safe and appropriate boundaries to vulnerable youth. Knowledge of sensory interventions. Proficiency in basic computer skills. Demonstrated ability to interact positively in a culturally diverse environment. Promotes and supports the agency's cultural and core values of a trauma informed, family engaged, youth driven, integrate health environment.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYNoneRequirementsQUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION / TRAINING)Minimum Required High school diploma or GED. At least one year of experience working with children or adults in a mental health or assisted living facility. Ability to verbally de-escalate and utilize safe, non-harmful techniques when youth present danger to themselves or others. Valid driver's license. Ability to pass physical and drug screenings and required background checks. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.Preferred Completion of two years of college with courses in psychology, sociology, social work, childcare, child development counseling and guidance, human service, family relations, behavioral science, or a related field. First Aide/CPR trained.
