Youth Program Coordinator
Reports to: Program Director
Qualifications: BA/BS degree AND two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work, familiarity with NYS Office of Children and Family Services daycare licensing regulations, AND a driver's license, CPR/First Aid/AED
Subordinate staff: Teachers, chaperons, counselors, assistants
Primary functions: Oversee the Kids Connection School Age Childcare program which operates Monday - Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm, from 7:30 am to 6 pm on school (Vestal) vacation days. Oversee some of the youth program classes holiday celebrations, special events, and fundraisers for 44 weeks.
If available for working during the summer this position will include 6 weeks as a camp counselor and two weeks organizing a specialty camp program under the auspices of Camp JCC a subsidiary of the JCC*.
1.Plan programs for:
The JCC's Kids Connection after-school care program
Vacation day programs
Youth and Preschool specialty classes
Help Arts & Culture Director with two community holiday celebrations
Work at summer camp as a counselor*
Coordinate a two-week Specialty Camp program
2.Develop a budget for:
Kids Connection programs
Specialty classes
Specialty Camp Programs
3.Prepare & update job descriptions & agreements for:
Kids Connection staff
Specialty Camp staff
4.Provide programming information to the Marketing Director.
5.Ensure compliance with all Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations.
Ensure all staff is up to date on required training
Ensure all paperwork regarding staff and students is up to date and filed correctly
6.Organize & maintain files of all required documentation, i.e., rosters, enrollment, permission
and authorization forms for all programs.
7.Staffing:
Interview, hire, and train staff and instructors
Check references, complete personnel files
Responsible for overseeing KC staff payroll
Complete all onboarding requirements including registration on the Kronos payroll platform
8.Supervise:
Kids Connection staff
Specialty camp counselors
Youth Class teachers
9.Work with JCC staff effectively
Planning integrated programs
10.Help out in the Early Childhood Center as needed
11.Counsel youth
12.Available to parents and JCC members.
13.Convey a positive service attitude
14.Understand the group process
15.Understand and carry out the general goals of the JCC
16.Order supplies as needed within budget

Since its inception in 1927, the Jewish Community Center of Binghamton, NY (JCC) has grown and evolved to become an essential part of the Broome County community as a full-service, not-for-profit, organization. Located by Binghamton University in Vestal, NY, the JCC is housed in a 60,000 square foot facility which houses a natatorium with a 2250 square foot pool, full gymnasium, a small fitness center with men's and women's health club with steam, sauna and massage rooms, a fitness loft with Johnny - G Spinning bikes and Pilates Reformers, full stage and auditorium, meeting rooms, a preschool facility with 12 classrooms and 3 infant rooms, 5 rooms which encompass the Kids Connection After School Care program and 4 classrooms that house Universal Pre-Kindergarten programs for the Vestal and Binghamton school districts.
In addition, we have 8 acres of land including outdoor tennis/Pickleball and basketball courts, a pavilion, a nature preserve, a soccer and camping field, and 3 state-of-the-art age-appropriate playground facilities.
The JCC's Early Childhood Center and youth department serves over 300 children in daycare programs and over 200 children in summer day camp each year and our Phys Ed department offers programs in everything from youth and adult basketball recreation leagues and camps, a pickleball league, fitness classes and more.
