Reports to: Director of Regional Programs

Location: Regional

Schedule: Monday-Friday (3PM - 8 PM)

Salary: $16.00/hour

Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) work directly with youth focusing on enrichment activities ranging from; dance, sports, art, STEM, Mentoring and many more.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Program Delivery

  • Deliver Triple Play, Workforce Development, Smart Moves, Smart Girls, Teen Night and other related Boys and Girls Club programs to Teen club members in a fun and engaging manner.
  • Receive lesson plans from the Regional Director of Programs and implement them during enrichment activity time.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with other Youth Development Professionals, the Regional Director of Program, and club members

Leadership and Supervision

  • Support, and manage club members during program hours.
  • Participate in periodic staff meetings and training as required.
  • Co-deliver enrichment activities and programs with Youth Specialists.

Risk Management and Maintenance

  • Ensure program areas comply by understanding and implementing BGCCA
  • Assist in maintaining inventories of all program equipment and supplies; ensure all related supplies and equipment are maintained in good order (cleanliness and upkeep of Program Area after usage)

Health and Safety

  • Ensure the health and safety of students and staff, by ensuring program areas are safe with evacuation and emergency procedures posted and first aid kits accessible.
  • Conduct daily club member health checks and file incident reports to the Regional Director of Programs .
  • Complete Foundations in Health & Safety training and Mandated Reporter training.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club youth, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Support external contact as instructed with community groups, schools, member's parents, public stakeholders and others as directed by the supervisor. Maintain a good reputation and moral conduct outside of work, in the community and on social media networks.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience working with Teens aged 13-19 yrs old
  • Understanding of youth development principles, ability to motivate youth in a positive way
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Principles related to the development of youth between 13 and 19 years of age
  • Experience working within diverse cultures preferred
  • Model and guide youth in strengths-based problem solving, goal setting and study skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt in a work environment that changes often.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Successful completion of background check
  • CPR and First AID Certifications preferred, required within 6 months of hired date

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position may involve lifting, bending, standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching, and grasping. Must be able to demonstrate and/or describe activities to youth. This position works around youth and adults with moderate exposure to noise. This position will work both indoors and outdoors.
