Job Description:
As a member of the Future Ready team, the Youth Navigator supports college and career readiness for middle and high school students by helping them build capacity for academic and employment success. The person in this role will develop, implement, and deliver innovative, student-centered college and career enrichments while also providing wraparound support services through mentorship, family outreach, and connection to community resources.Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with each student to identify appropriate social-emotional, academic, and career and occupational goals; hold students accountable for completing agreed upon action steps and achieving self-identified goals
  • Collaborate with school guidance counselor or other school-based staff to ensure students are fulfilling their academic requirements and/or are enrolled in the appropriate afterschool tutoring sessions
  • Partner with students, families, and employer to ensure students attend all required program components, including enrichments, job readiness training, and academic tutoring (when appropriate)
  • Connect students to EnCompass and community enrichments and events to promote the development of academic, social-emotional, and employment skills
  • Partner with EnCompass Navigation team, schools, employers, and community-based staff to coordinate, facilitate and manage wrap services, academic learning programs and job-readiness training and placement
  • Assist program administration in the development and evaluation of programs and services targeted to meet student needs
  • Plan and facilitate enrichments based on student interest as aligned with the program's objectives
  • Support academic and enrichment programming as determined by the Future Ready leadership team
  • Participate in and contribute to team, employer, and school meetings, presenting data and observations of youth progress and performance
  • Identify youth who need more intensive services; refer youth and families to Family Navigation (when appropriate)
  • Chaperone off-site trips, including occasional weekend events and an annual multi-day overnight trip
  • Provide students with transportation to and from program, when necessary, using EnCompass vehicles
  • Participate in professional development, orientations, parent education, and student events being offered
  • Perform other duties assigned by the employee's supervisor

  • Effective communication skills, particularly as they relate to the development of trusting relationships with students and families
  • Ability to collaborate with others from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Smartboard technology
Qualifications:
  • Minimum - High School Diploma; valid NYS driver's license
  • Preferred - Post-secondary education or training; 3 years experience coaching or mentoring students or families
Scheduling:
  • Monday-Thursday: 10:30-7:00pm; Friday: 8:30-5:00pm
  • Must be flexible to work occasional weekend.
Salary:
  • $18.35-$25.38/hour based on experience
