Our connection to the larger metropolitan area is essential to our success and provides a wealth of diverse cultural and recreational opportunities.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:This position is primarily responsible for the daily operations, instructional activities, and projects with the Youth Academy programs and non-credit enrichment courses on and off campus. Develop and manage grant projects as well as partnerships with community agencies and schools. Develop, coordinate and facilitate events and courses for program. Operate program budget on a cost-recovery basis and monitor auxiliary budget for revenue and expenditures. Meet division short and long range goals.Develop, schedule and staff non-credit continuing education courses in youth program areas on and off campus.Oversee the instructional development process for all approved courses related to assigned program areas.Research, design, develop, implement and evaluate course curriculum on an ongoing basis.Determine program and course costs and establish fees to ensure profitability of the program; cancel classes as needed.Identify and interview adjunct faculty as delegated by the Dean; supervise and evaluate non-credit adjunct faculty and classroom assistants in discipline areas.Recommend annual budget and resource allocation and monitor monthly expenditures necessary for success in a cost-recovery system.Identify, interview, supervise and assess seasonal and part-time program support staff.Determine program cost on a course-by-course basis and establish course fees to assure cost efficiency and program success.Assist Program Manager, Youth Academy and Adult Enrichment, in creation of new Youth Academy and grant program developments.Participate in grant-writing and grant-related partnership with outside organizations and agencies.Arrange, oversee and implement grant related hiring, supervision, programming, curriculum, and reporting.Recommend capital expenditures related to program development.Assist with short and long-range divisional planning and budget goals.Establish and monitor program quality in cooperation with the Manager, Youth Academy and Adult Enrichment including assessment surveys for program planning, implementation, analysis, reports and presentations.Keep abreast of current research and instructional trends in program area.Facilitate faculty and staff development workshops and resources including orientation, assessment, compliance, equipment, facilities teaching technologies, etc.Initiate, plan, facilitate and coordinate staff development resources including facilities, equipment and instructional materials for workshops between instructors and Continuing Education staff, administrators and college staff.Research, identify and approve new facilities for classes due to facility restrictions at the college, regional centers and schools.Research and negotiate contracts with businesses and community facilities for use as additional sites.Develop a marketing strategy and prepare publicity in cooperation with the Manager, Youth Academy and Adult Enrichment by writing promotional copy for the class schedule, brochures, flyers, news releases, paid advertising and the website.Preliminary approval of assignment sheet, independent contractor forms, purchase orders, substitute teacher forms, requisitions, advances and reimbursable expense forms, new course proposal forms, and work orders.Interpret, apply, advise and report to various program licensing agencies in order to maintain accreditation compliance.Compile and analyze departmental revenue and enrollment statistics and prepare reports as required by the Manager, Continuing Education.Provide high quality service in all interactions with community members, business contacts, college faculty, staff, administrators and students.Advise and counsel students on course selection and make recommendations for sequencing and placement to ensure correct choices to fulfill educational needs.Collaboration with staff to develop and initiate strategies for student recruitment to grow programs.Initiate payments for staff development stipends, part-time faculty substitutions, instructional assistants and independent contractors.Review, revise and update course descriptions, curriculum, textbooks and multi-media enhancements on an ongoing basis to ensure program quality and any necessary adherence to external accreditation agencies such as the Illinois State Board of Education or Illinois Community College Board.Establish and monitor program quality in conjunction with the Manager, Youth Academy and Adult Enrichment including assessment surveys for program planning, implementation, analysis, reports and presentations.Represent the college at local, national and international meetings, workshops and conference related to youth continuing education.Participate in college-wide committees.Qualifications:EducationBachelor's degree in continuing education, liberal arts, or education required.Master's degree in continuing education, liberal arts, or education preferred.Experience1-2 years experience in more complex program development or previous teaching experience at the college level, with adults or with youth required.Experience in youth programming preferred.Experience teaching through a community college or continuing education program, and experience working with cost-recovery type programs and budget(s) preferred.Working Conditions:Personal computer, fax machine, copier, calculator and computer software.Busy office environment with high level of guest interaction.Normal office demands and some evening and weekend hours required periodically.This position requires a background check and drug screen.Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
