We are currently recruiting for Youth Program / Education Assistant IIs in our Child and Adolescent Programming Department (CAP) at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). These positions provide extracurricular services as part of Child and Adolescent Programming (CAP). Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Leading groups, classes and special events as part of the therapeutic education/extracurricular program in the Adolescent and Child Malls.
  • Provide coverage for teacher absences on an as-needed basis.
  • Plan and lead special extracurricular activities that focus on educational goals as well as the development of behavioral, social and cognitive skills (such as field trips or special activities on teacher workdays or at other times).
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers from multiple disciplines regarding plans for groups and activities, as well as patients' behavior during groups and activities.
  • Provide accurate documentation and tracking of assigned programming.
  • Use computers to track patients' participation and progress, plan group activities and obtain materials for groups.
Child and Adolescent Programming (CAP) is a department at Central Regional Hospital that includes approximately 30 employees. It is affiliated and works closely with the Child and Adolescent unit and provides therapeutic educational services, clinical groups, and extracurricular activities for child and adolescent patients (as well as educational services for some young adult patients). These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, forty hours per week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and occasional weekends with notice; flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. CAP is a mandatory operation during adverse weather. The YPEA II will belong to a coverage team and will be required to be at the hospital during an adverse weather event when that team is up. Also, this position is required to do some weekend work 3-4 times per year.About Central Regional Hospital (CRH):CRH is a State-of-the Art psychiatric hospital located in Butner, NC.   • Experience in the care of children with psychiatric disorders, children with trauma, behaviors that have the potential to be verbally or physically aggressive, and/or any individual that is Intellectually or Developmentally delayed.

  • Ability to plan and lead classes and/or sports, field trips, skills-based groups, patient meetings and other activities.
  • Must have a current driver's license

  • Ability to obtain a CDL license.
Physical Requirements: Position requires average physical activity. Consistent motivation and energy are necessary to ensure quality service delivery. Requires ability to run, stand for periods of time, go up and down stairs and be outdoors for several hours at a time. Involves manual dexterity and the ability to use educational tools such as glue guns, scissors, paper cutters, garden tools and so forth.
