  • Supervises and monitors youth during recreation, youth movement to and from class and throughout the facility.
  • Ensures safety requirements and expectations.
  • Counsels youth and documents youth behavior.
  • Processes new youth arrivals as needed.
  • Conducts conferences with youths' parents, Senior Youth Specialist, probation officer, counselor, and the treatment team.
  • Conducts psychoeducational groups using a leadership style that promotes youth participation and positive adolescent development.
  • Attends all staff meetings and conferences as required.
  • Appropriately manages aggressive student behavior including verbal de-escalation and restraining individuals as needed.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Experience working with at-risk adolescents.
  • One-year job related experience working in a treatment oriented, behavior modification or adolescent/juvenile program is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be 21 years of age;
  • CPR-First Aid Certification and Handle With Care Certification (Certifications may be obtained after employment begins)
  • Valid Texas Driver's License is required.
  • Eligible to be certified as a Juvenile Supervision Officer.
  • Availability to work 6am -2pm OR 2pm-10pm shift.
  • Female applicants only.
SALARY RANGE: $24.09 - $36.14 hourly based on qualifications This position is eligible for additional compensation based upon state supplement and certification pay. CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position An applicant may not have any of the following disqualifying criminal history: 1) A felony conviction against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years; a deferred adjudication for a felony against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years or current felony probation or parole. 2) A jailable misdemeanor conviction against the laws of this state, another state or the United States within the past 5 years; a deferred adjudication for a jailable misdemeanor against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 5 years or current misdemeanor probation or parole. 3) Registered as a sex offender under Chapter 62, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
