This position will work no more than 39 hours per week. The pay rate for this position $26.00/hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver's 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules. Location In this position you can expect to work on site at recreation centers and/or field sites throughout Denver. What You'll Do The City and County of Denver's Department of Parks and Recreation offers Youth Sports programming for kids ages 3 - 17 years. Our team of devoted Coaches enrich the lives of youth through engagement of sports, learning the fundamentals of numerous sports including baseball, basketball, coach pitch, T-ball, softball, flag football, gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, and track and field. Winter: Basketball
Spring: Flag Football, Soccer, Volleyball
Summer: Baseball/Softball, T-Ball/Coach Pitch, Track and Field
Fall: Flag Football, Soccer, Volleyball
Year-Round: Tennis, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Sports Camps The winter season is just around the corner, and we are looking for enthusiastic sport officials to join our team! As a Youth Sports Non-Certified Official, you will:
- Officiate at sports events including basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, baseball, and flag football, which may include leagues of youth and young adults to maintain that game rules are observed
- Communicate with other sporting officials, coaches, facility managers, subordinates, or the public by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in-person to provide information, coordinate activities, and discuss problems
- Inspect playing surface or field to ensure that it meets the regulations of the sanctioning body and is safe for the players
- Inspect sporting equipment and/or examine participants to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations
- Signal participants or other officials to make them aware of infractions or to otherwise regulate play; maintain control of players, coaches, and spectators
- Encourage good sportsmanship and harmony between all youth sports participants, spectators, coaches, and site staff
- Explain disputed calls to players and coaches
The Youth Sports winter season runs from December to March. We are looking for officials who can commit to the full duration of their respective season. Don't have a Sports Official Certification? Consider applying for our Non-Certified Sports Official position! What You'll Bring We are looking for coaches who can commit to the full duration of their respective season. Our ideal candidate will have:
- Availability during weeknights and weekends
- Punctuality and proactive communication ahead of all scheduled shifts
- Previous officiating experience in the above listed Youth Sports leagues
- Willingness to work multiple sites and regions

- Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
- Experience Requirement: One (1) year experience officiating in a recreational official league.
- Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
- Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Sports Official by a recognized organization is required at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
