This position will assist with the organization and supervision of various youth sports programs. They will help to establish and maintain a safe, positive, and fun sports environment for all participants. They will follow all City and Department guidelines and policies: weekend, holiday, and evening hours are scheduled as needed. Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. Minimum QualificationsRequired: • Experience working with individuals in a fast paced environment • CPR/First Aid Certification • High School Diploma/GED or Higher Education • Must be at least 18 years old Preferred: • Experience working in sports, specifically youth sports • Coaching and/or officiating experience • Coaching/Umpiring Certifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Previous experience in youth sports is a plus. • Ability to work with a diverse population. • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. • Demonstrate the ability to work with individuals in sports settings. • Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented atmosphere that provides participants and spectators with high quality service. • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, participants, coaches, and spectators to establish and maintain positive working relationships. • Knowledge of youth sports rules and ability to interpret and convey these rules to participants, coaches, spectators, and staff. • Ability to handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy. • Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations. • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures. • General understanding of scoreboard operations and athletic equipment. • Motor vehicle and recreational vehicle. • To have or obtain CPR, Basic First Aid, and Concussion Awareness training. • Ability to be trained on conflict management. Recreation Center Membership: Employees are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per year.
Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices. Benefits: The city monitors the hours worked for seasonal and variable hour employees.
