This position will assist with the organization and supervision of various youth sports programs. They will help to establish and maintain a safe, positive, and fun sports environment for all participants. They will follow all City and Department guidelines and policies: weekend, holiday, and evening hours are scheduled as needed. Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. Minimum QualificationsRequired: • Experience working with individuals in a fast paced environment • CPR/First Aid Certification • High School Diploma/GED or Higher Education • Must be at least 18 years old Preferred: • Experience working in sports, specifically youth sports • Coaching and/or officiating experience • Coaching/Umpiring Certifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Previous experience in youth sports is a plus. • Ability to work with a diverse population. • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. • Demonstrate the ability to work with individuals in sports settings. • Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented atmosphere that provides participants and spectators with high quality service. • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, participants, coaches, and spectators to establish and maintain positive working relationships. • Knowledge of youth sports rules and ability to interpret and convey these rules to participants, coaches, spectators, and staff. • Ability to handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy. • Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations. • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures. • General understanding of scoreboard operations and athletic equipment. • Motor vehicle and recreational vehicle. • To have or obtain CPR, Basic First Aid, and Concussion Awareness training. • Ability to be trained on conflict management. Commerce City is an equal opportunity employer. Recreation Center Membership: Employees are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per year. Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices. Benefits: The city monitors the hours worked for seasonal and variable hour employees. In the event that they work more than 1,560 hours within the ACA measurement period, they will be offered health benefits.Wellness: Employees are eligible to earn up to $100 for participation in various wellness activities offered by the City throughout the year.
