The mission of Family Support Services is to be the leader in providing safety, stability, and quality of life for all children by working with the community to strengthen the family unit.Job Summary:The Youth Well-Being Program and Mentorship Coordinator will play a vital role in empowering teens and young adults through extracurricular activities and experiences that foster age-appropriate freedom and responsibility while they are in foster care. This position aims to provide youth with enriching extracurricular experiences and opportunities for personal growth, helping them develop essential skills for adulthood. Collaborate with foster parents, group home providers, case management services, and community organizations to enhance FSS's youth enrichment programs and the Youth Advisory Board. Support the Youth Advisory Board, ensuring it serves as an effective platform for youth and young adults to voice their ideas, needs and serves as a platform to elevate youth voice in the system of care. Coordinate, and manage volunteers for various programs, including designing program activities and handling logistics. Connect youth with positive adult mentor programs, facilitating mentor relationships and serving as the primary point of contact for ongoing support.Job Duties:
  • Managing and supporting youth to connected positive adults. Requires support of the evaluation of potential candidates and supporting the matching needs of mentors with community programs. Will require outreach to partners and collaboration with community stakeholders to get the youth connected. Tracking of the matches and support to the mentor as needed as well as training to prospective mentors on our population/SOC as requested or as FSS deems necessary.
  • Manages, coordinates and tracks the FSS teen enrichment programs such as Just Like Me, Keys to Independence and others as determined by FSS. Evaluate the effectiveness of the programs, the need, budgets and ROI. Work collaboratively with CMO services, Community Development and other FSS departments to secure participants and tracking of the programs. This includes securing volunteers as appropriate and as needed.
  • Creation and implementation of the youth advisory board to include recruiting youth leaders, tracking, monitoring, hosting meetings, agendas, support groups, trainings etc.
  • Monitoring of the mentorship programs. Ensuring that youth and young adults are matched with the appropriate mentors. Tracking mentor progress and activities.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree required with minimum of 3 years relevant experience or a high school diploma with 4 years of relevant work experience.Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in one or more of the following: child welfare, community engagement, managing youth programs, volunteer management or event coordination. Preferred: Lived experience in the child welfare system.Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Valid driver's license.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other Requirements:
  • Clear a Level II background screening
  • Clear a reference check
  • Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
  • Clear a substance abuse screen
  • Provide a copy of all degrees prior to your first day of employment
  • Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check and must be insurable under the company's automobile policy.
  • Provide copy of automobile insurance.
  • Provide proof of and maintain a minimum personal auto liability insurance level $100,000/$300,000 if deemed to be a driving risk.
