Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Zone Supervisors to join the Threemile Canyon team in the La Grande area. This person will produce high quality crops through the management of soil, water, chemical and fertilizer application. This person will assist the zone manager with overseeing field preparation, tillage, cultivation and harvest operations and farm equipment operation.About Threemile Canyon FarmsFor more than 20 years, Threemile Canyon Farms has responsibly provided for the nutritional needs of a growing population through our sustainable dairy and farming operations.   • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Confer with management team and Agronomist to evaluate soil and weather conditions and to develop plans and procedures for crop development.
  • Inspect fields and observe growing plants and harvested crops to determine work requirements such as cultivating, spraying, thinning, weeding, irrigating, harvesting, and drying, according to time of year and condition of soil, plants, and crops.
  • Observe instrument and gauge readings, ascertain condition of crop, and perform related duties to verify worker adherence to instructions.
  • Maintain time and application records of applied fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Supervise a team of employees in support of Threemile Canyon Farm's operations, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; assisting employees in career growth and development.
  • Determine the number of and kind of workers needed to perform required work and schedule activities.
  • Train workers in work procedures, safety policies, and use of machinery and tools.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • BS Degree - Agriculture related field or equivalent. Additional coursework in soils and irrigation beneficial.
  • 2+ years of experience with cultivating crops or previous general farm experience. Previous supervisory experience a plus.
